Zakat is calculated at 2.5% of net eligible wealth (assets minus deductible debts), but only if that net wealth meets or exceeds the Nisab threshold. Net wealth includes cash, savings, gold, silver, investments and receivables, plus business assets if you enable business Zakat.

What is the Nisab threshold, and why do I need to enter a gold price?
Tap to view the answer
Nisab is the minimum wealth threshold for Zakat to be due — 87.48 grams of gold or 612.36 grams of silver. Because gold and silver prices change daily, this calculator has no fixed AED figure for Nisab; you must enter today's price per gram for an accurate threshold.

Can I deduct my debts before calculating Zakat?
Tap to view the answer
Yes, if you enable 'Deduct Debts from Assets' (on by default), the debts you enter are subtracted from total assets before comparing to the Nisab threshold and calculating Zakat. Many scholars limit this to short-term, immediately payable debts — confirm treatment of long-term debts with a scholar.

Is this calculator a religious ruling on what I owe?
Tap to view the answer
No. It applies a common general method (2.5% of net wealth above Nisab), but asset classification, the lunar-year holding period (hawl), and deductible liabilities can vary by school of thought. Use it as a planning estimate and confirm specifics with a qualified Islamic scholar.
