Add up everything you own at today's market value, add up everything you owe, and subtract the second total from the first. This calculator does the sum from the values you enter: cash, deposits, investments, EPF/PPF/NPS, gold, property and vehicles as assets, and home, personal, vehicle and education loans, card dues and other debt as liabilities.

Should I include my house and my home loan?
Tap to view the answer
Yes, both, but each once. Enter the property at its full market value under real estate, and the outstanding loan under home loan. Do not subtract the loan from the property value and also enter it as a debt, or it will be counted twice.

Can net worth be negative?
Tap to view the answer
Yes. If your liabilities are larger than your assets your net worth is negative. That is common soon after buying a home or when you have an education loan and few assets, and it changes as you repay loans and build assets.

What counts as a liquid asset?

Cash, bank and fixed deposits, stocks and mutual funds: things you can turn into cash within days. EPF, PPF, NPS, gold, property and vehicles are not treated as liquid here. The calculator shows how many months of your expenses the liquid assets would cover if you enter your monthly expenses.

Which values should I use for gold, property and vehicles?

Use what each would sell for now, not what you paid. A vehicle is usually worth much less than its purchase price, and property and gold can be worth more. The calculator adds up the numbers you enter and does not value anything for you.
